Blame the players! Nba is a players driven league. If black players don't push for black coaches then stop blaming the owners or GM. Example, James harden got a black coach and bounced. Stephen A should just call the players out for not demanding a black coach

Stephen A is wring most if the tike, but he is right with the relations part. Think about it like this. The NBA players are predominantly black. They make up the NBA basically. But all the people who they work for is white. They wont even look at a black coach direction unless they have some major background like a NBA chip or a legendary players son. And even if people dont think there is sometimes racism, just know Donald Sterling tried to hide the fact he hated black people

If I had hundreds of millions of dollars invested in a team; I should be allowed to hire anyone in my organization whom I feel is the best-qualified PERSON for the job; whether it is the trainer, the clubhouse manager, the accountant, the GM or the head coach. We are way, way past the unwritten yet mandated quota system in the world of athletics.

As a black person, "I get all that" (Stephen A. Voice') when it comes to race. But honestly, a lot of the coaches he mentioned didn't necessarily leave a great legacy and the league needs newer ideas when it comes to playcalling. Its a new age in basketball no way you hire someone like Woodson or Brown.

No one wants to talk about how Chris Finch is one of the best big man coach in the league, who has developed both Anthony Davis and Joker. Who is Minnesotas star player? KAT, who is a Big Man.
While Vanderpool is a assist coach who specialize in defense. Minnesota has a terrible defensive rating right now. Not completely his fault. But his time with Portland, they only had the top 10 defense once.
Ryan Saunders got the nod because of his daddy. But Chris Finch is a very capable basketball coach, with very new and fresh basketball ideas and concepts.
As a raptors fan I was excited when we signed him this offseason and im sad that his time with us was so brief. You could see the leaps Chris Boucher has made under his wing.

The Wolves have this history of losing and is the "dead end" of a career for most players. The stars in the league will not play for the Wolves. You can't build
chemistry this way. That's why winning teams continue to win. New players have no perceptions when going to a successful franchise. They will willfully play
their part without complaint. Going someplace like Minnesota is too much to ask and the disappointment becomes overwhelming.

  • Axle Johnson

    Axle Johnson

    8 hari yang lalu

This is why some players refuse to play for teams like the Wolves. The numbers they bring each night, don't add up to wins and you never get a break.
As great as Kevin Garrnett was. It didn't add up to wins. He had to go to the Celtics where the culture was different and all the players willfully played their part.

  • Axle Johnson

    Axle Johnson

    8 hari yang lalu

There is no coach on the face of the earth that can fix the problem with the Timberwolves. It's a culture of losing. They have had good players but in the end
the players would always become to selfish and destroy any chemistry the team had. The players can't seem to set aside their goals of playing somewhere else,
rather then focus on where they are. It's been this way for years.

Congrats to Coach Finch from a Raptors fan. He's going to do something great for them. Minnesota, focus on your G League and development. That is the only way you will be a winner (take it from an organization who knows this). Say what you want about our Raptors but there is no denying we have been a top 5 organization for the last decade.

Rosas went though the interview process in 2019 before ultimately being pressured into hiring Saunders as the head coach. Of the 4 finalists at the time? 3 of them were black---Juwan Howard,. Marvin Ham, and David Vanterpool (the 4th was Finch).
Rosas clearly felt comfortable enough with the interviews he conducted a short couple of years ago to make his decision without interviewing ANYONE this time around. He didn't solely shut out black individuals---he shut out ALL individuals.
This racist narrative getting spun against him is incredibly disappointing. Rosas himself is a person of color.

So to get this straight, SAS's problem is not the fact that Finch has only coached basketball in England and in Belgium i.e like having credentials coaching an ice skating team for the Mauritanian championship, but the fact that he is white, yellow, blue or pink. Cool. Minnesota needs a good European coach from a Euroleague powerhouse, to teach these very talented youngsters grit and defence. Not the coach of "Sheffield Sharks" .

Stephen A keeps trying this over and over again but despite the 4 minute rants in which he lists all of the “available” black coaches who were passed over, he cannot properly articulate his accusation and thus cannot muster a shred of evidence to support his point.
    Please tell us:
    1. Do you believe the NBA ownership would rather have white coaches than winning coaches?
    2. Do you believe that NBA owners think that black coaches are less likely to be successful than white coaches?
    3. If so, is this a case of unconscious bias? If it is, how can this problem be fairly remedied?
    4. Do you understand that accusing people of racism is one of the most damaging non-criminal accusations in our society- and if you can’t show evidence beyond a list of coaches YOU think should have gotten the job, you are not going to win many people over, especially when Black Players, who make ten times more than coaches, have so much say in the hiring process!!
